Edinburgh and Glasgow Cycling Road Safety Roadshows in November 2025

We recorded the presentations at our Glasgow event on Wednesday 19th November.
First up was PC Stewart Sinclair – Police Scotland Road Policing
Stewart is a Police Officer working in Road Policing.
Stewart joined Strathclyde Police back in 2005 and worked for 7 years within East Dunbartonshire as a Response Officer.
In 2013, he was seconded to Road Policing based at Govan for a short period of time. He then went on to become a fully-fledged Road Policing Officer where he worked at Motherwell and latterly Edinburgh, where he moved to in 2015. Stewart is an Advanced Police Driver and holds a Diploma in Road Policing from the Police College.
He currently has a hybrid role, working not just operationally when required to do so, but also undertaking Traffic Management and Road Safety work with Edinburgh City Council. He is also actively involved with the organisation and running of key Road Safety Events within Edinburgh City such as “ Be Bright Be Seen cycle safety campaign “ and “ Blind Spot Education “ as well as the annual Young Drivers Event at the O2 in Edinburgh.
In March of this year, Stewart presented to delegates at this year’s Road Safety Scotland Seminar on the Be Bright Be Seen Campaign. In his spare time, Stewart enjoys Motorcycling, Cycling, Golf, Rugby, and Cooking .

Next up was Roz Galloway – Cycle Law Scotland.
Roz is a civil litigation lawyer with over 16 years’ experience and provides local legal support and advice for injured cyclists in the North and North-east of Scotland.
She is passionate about providing a meaningful service to injured vulnerable road users and assisting them in pursuing justice whilst maximising their recovery.
Roz is a keen road cyclist in her own right, competing in road races at Cat 3 level throughout the UK and qualified and rode in the UCI Grand Fondo World Championships in Perth in 2023.

Scott Runciman – Cycling UK was up next.
Scott Runciman is the Scotland Advocacy Lead for Cycling UK, where he champions walking, wheeling, and cycling to decision-makers in Scotland. He has worked across the cycling sector as a sales assistant, volunteer, service team leader, and mechanic, and previously served as Cycling UK’s Development Officer in the Scottish Borders, delivering several successful behaviour-change projects. Scott will present Cycling UK’s ‘My Ride. Our Right’ campaign.
In this video, Scott explains the thinking, evidence, and impact behind the ‘My Ride. Our Right’ campaign — a powerful initiative focused on women’s road safety, cycling confidence, and active travel.
Next up were Eric Hill (Sweco) and Malcolm Hall (Glasgow City Council)
Eric Hill – Sweco UK Limited
Eric is a Principal Engineer with Sweco UK in Edinburgh and has worked within Highways, traffic and road safety engineering in both private and public sectors since 1991.
Eric specialises in road safety engineering and road safety audit and frequently provides presentations and organises workshop days in Scotland for design engineers, road safety engineers, road safety auditors and the police.
Eric also has experience and knowledge of the enforcement and education aspects of road safety through his involvement with Police Scotland and the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
He is Chair of the Society of Road Safety Auditors (SoRSA).
Malcolm Hall – Glasgow City Council
Malcolm Hall is an Engineering Officer for Glasgow City Council. Malcolm graduated from the University of Dundee with a BEng in Civil Engineering. He commenced his career with Glasgow City Council in 2014 as the City was enjoying the boom associated with hosting the Commonwealth Games. Malcolm has a significant background in Civil Engineering for Sustainable and Public Transport having worked closely with Partners such as SPT to help deliver Bus infrastructure improvements throughout the city and Sustrans delivering active travel. As the Project Manager for the Connecting Woodside project, he has been responsible for the design and delivery of this award winning project. Overseeing a multi-million pound investment in this historical area of the city. Currently his remit includes design, procurement and oversight of construction together with public and community engagement for the project.

Callum Deboys – Paralympian
Callum is a C2 para-cyclist. He competed in Para-Nordic Skiing at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing before moving onto two wheels.
Speakers
Simon Bradshaw – Cycling Scotland
Simon was a police officer for 31 years, with much of his career spent in Road Policing involved in road safety enforcement and partnership working. He retired from Police Scotland as a superintendent in 2022 in the role of Deputy Head of Road Policing. In November 2022 he was appointed as Cycling Road Safety Manager at Cycling Scotland, with a remit to work with and support partners to improve safety for people on bikes.

Christopher Johnson – Cycling Scotland
Christopher is the Head of Education and Training for Cycling Scotland. Christopher manages training and education projects, including national standard cycle training for all ages and vulnerable road user awareness for other road users. Previously he worked in project management with NHS National Services Scotland, and he serves on the UK Cycle Training Standards Board.
Christopher will be speaking at the Glasgow event on 19th Nov.
