Scottish Motorcycle Road Safety Roadshow Raises Over £9,000 for Charity Air Ambulance
After the hugely successful motorcycle road safety roadshows held across five venues in Scotland in February, the motorcycle community have successfully raised £9,172.73 for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA). Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance provides rapid-response critical care to people across the country, often in remote or hard-to-reach locations, making community fundraising efforts like this vital to its continued operation.
The roadshows were held throughout locations in Scotland and brought together motorists to hear talks from expert speakers representing Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, Motorcycle Law Scotland, Sweco, and IAM RoadSmart. The events were focused on improving rider awareness, sharing real-world experiences, and encouraging safer behaviour on Scotland’s roads.
The events would not have been possible without the generous support from motorcycle dealers and the wider motorcycle community across the country, helping to drive both attendance and fundraising efforts. Sponsors included Shirlaws, Motorrad Central and Roadskin. Numerous prizes were generously donated from Cardo Systems, Rapid Training, Shoei and many others.
To celebrate the fundraising achievements, a motorcycle ride day was organised to SCAA’s base at Perth Airport where a cheque was proudly presented to the SCAA team.
“We’re incredibly proud of what’s been achieved through the Roadshows. There has been a lack of engagement between the motorcycle community and transport agencies for too long. We wanted to be a conduit for that change and encourage safer riding practices and share knowledge from as many perspectives as we could. The events were a tremendous success and that is all down to the Scottish Motorcycle Community who we are very proud to represent” said Thomas Mitchell, Partner at Motorcycle Law Scotland. “Not only have we raised significant funds for an essential service, but we’ve also brought riders together to learn, share experiences, and improve safety on our roads.”
