The crash & immediate aftermath
Suzy was out enjoying a ride on her Triumph motorcycle with a friend on the A96 near Forres. The weather was perfect for a ride – sunny with dry roads. Their plan was to make a short local journey, heading north and then east at the junction with the A940. As Suzy waited in the filter lane to join the eastbound carriageway, the tranquillity of the ride was shattered.
Without warning, a Renault Trafic van crashed into the back of Suzy's motorcycle. The impact threw her from her saddle, and she landed on her rear wheel. Her left foot was trapped on the nearside footpeg, and she was terrifyingly dragged along the road as her motorcycle was pushed underneath the van.
In a state of shock, Suzy managed to get to her feet. Her friend confronted the driver, who apologised, saying, “I am so sorry, I didn’t see you.” Despite Suzy's painful injuries, the police at the scene decided they were not serious enough to take any action!
Navigating the road to recovery
